Thanks to the help of countless donations and volunteer hours from the community, the Winfield Food Pantry has moved into its new site at 107 East Elm Street. The move was completed last weekend.

The food pantry had long been housed in the basement of the Winfield Methodist Church until plans were made last summer to relocate. Significant renovations were needed before a move could take place, as the building was the former home of the Winfield Beacon newspaper. The work was funded through donations and grants, including a $32,700 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, and a $10,000 grant from the Enhance Henry County Community Foundation.

Last Saturday and Sunday, community members helped move furniture, appliances, and over 1,000 pounds of food into the new site, which officially opened on Wednesday. A grand opening for the Winfield Food Pantry will be held at a future date.
